Angus McDonell -- Contemporary Catholic Artist, Composer and Youth Minister
Biography

Angus McDonell is a composer with a vision for awesome, Catholic music. He writes from the heart, fashioning poetic and dynamic music for liturgy and listening. Angus' song "River of Life" was chosen as the theme song for the 2003 National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Houston. Angus' debut CD, River of Life, was released in November, 2003.

Angus' passion to draw souls to Christ was instilled in him from camp counselor days. His studies in theology (B.A., Seattle University) and music (B.A. University of Washington, M.A., Northwestern University) fit him well for this mission. When recently asked to summarize his musical experience, he characterized it as a move "from grunge to jazz to classical and back to grunge with a short misguided turn to muzak."

Angus has a contagious, zany sense of humor, and that makes him a popular choice for concerts, workshops and youth events. More than just a performer, he is an effective worship leader. His music can draw a group into deep prayer and lift them up in exhilarating praise.

Angus' deep love for the Lord, the Church and God's people fuel his passion for this ministry. He has performed at major youth events nationally and internationally, including four World Youth Days, three National Catholic Youth Conferences, four Franciscan University High School Youth Conferences, and numerous parish, diocesan, and university events.

Angus serves as the Director of Youth Ministry for Assumption Parish and Sacred Heart Parishes in picturesque Bellingham, Washington, where he lives with his lovely wife, Twila and their two beautiful kids, Josie and Lorry. "My greatest joys are my faith, family, and those I minister to through music in the Catholic church."
